OK, I Believe Now...
Too often I hear stories about cyber-reunion. People telling how they found their long lost relatives, old classmates, first-love, estranged exs and etc etc over the internet. The first thing that escape my cynical mind is, yeah, right.... Forgive me for not exactly a believer. The truth is, what are the odds???
Serious, what are the odds the guy/girl you met on friendster actually looks remotely like his/her profile pic in real life? What are the odds the 20+ guy is actually 20+? (And I don't mean he's 20 years old like 30 years ago.) What are the odds the good looking dude you finally met is actually not gay?
Forget about the probability. Throw out the odds. This morning when I opened my mail, I was greeted with this email on my Facebook.
OMG! Honest, I couldn't been happier had Brad Pitt emailed me.
It's been 32 years since I last saw Cik Ramsinah. Forget? No way. Cik Ramsinah is my first tuition teacher and it's not overly dramatic to conclude I can sit here blogging is because of this lady. You see, when I was in Primary One, I'm the only one in my class who can't read and write. I can't read because I do not know A-E-I-O-U could make funny sound that eventually form the words on sentences. Sorry, never heard about the 5 vowels before.
When my report card came back mono red, my parents took drastic measure and got me a tuition teacher. (against my will, of course) Cik Ramsinah patiently taught me everything from scratch. Yep, patient is the word, though I don't know if she ever felt like whacking me in her mind. I know dumb students are a nightmare and a true test of patience.
If I can recall correctly, Cik Ramsinah even threw in some free Jawi lessons in between. She had to stop her lessons when she had to further her own studies. Gee, I hope that's not an excuse to get rid of me....
Today, I'm just too happy to hear from her again. For all that's been said, a mere Thank You is never enough to my very first tuition teacher. Through it all, not once she whacked me and for that alone, I'm eternally grateful. :-P

Wow! Your teacher has to be at least 52 years old, right?? And still so active on the Internet!! Who says old people aren't internet savvy??
Ironic isn't it, that it takes the person who taught you how to read so many years ago to inspire you to learn more about FB.. :D
*makes a mental note to keep up with technological advancement as long as possible*
Helen, a pantun from me as tribute to all teachers
Indah sungguh negeri Sabah
Gunungnya tinggi gagah perkasa
Pengorbanan cikgu mengajar di sekolah
Tetap dikenang sepanjang masa
Yesterday I was at sitted behind a malay man with white hair, probably in his early 50s.
He was browsing through Friendster, looking at photos of young malay girls, clicking on their photos and adding them as friends! Walau eh!

CK Tan - You know, back in those days, we tend to view teachers as species frm another planet. I bumped into my old class teacher during aerobics class.. :-P It's so funny. She cannot remember me and I din tell her she's once my teacher. She started talking to me like her friend and that is so weird. I used to be scared of her before.
Hope you'll take up your teacher's yumcha offer. :-)
