Lina Joy Has Her Victory

The Federal Court today ruled that the word "Islam" will not be changed in Lina Joy's identity card. The verdict if measured in the general public consensus, would has to be translated, Lina Joy 'lost.'

Many had criticized her decision to take on the authorities as futile. Some even say, stupid. And it's not coming only from people of other faiths, even her very own brothers and sisters in Christ had voiced their skepticism in her decision to take on the Malaysian authorities and attempt the impossible. The reason? Simply because many would say, faith is a matter of the heart. It is between God and you. It will not in anyway affect your path to the Kingdom of God even if the word 'Islam' appears on your identity card. So, what's the big deal?

The big deal is, this lady is not ashame of her faith. She is not afraid to proclaim she is now one of Christ's. Well, many might argue why must one proclaim? Isn't it enough to earn you a place in Heaven by merely believing? Yes, justification is by faith alone but, what faith are you talking about when you do not even have the guts to stand up for the one you proclaim God? Believe me, there are indeed plenty of hypocrites to go around.

Well, mockery has always been the essence of Christ. Lina Joy has had her share these past few years. To continue her journey amidst death threats, mockery, criticism and all, I say she had her victory.
