Lina Joy Has Her Victory
The Federal Court today ruled that the word "Islam" will not be changed in Lina Joy's identity card. The verdict if measured in the general public consensus, would has to be translated, Lina Joy 'lost.'Many had criticized her decision to take on the authorities as futile. Some even say, stupid. And it's not coming only from people of other faiths, even her very own brothers and sisters in Christ had voiced their skepticism in her decision to take on the Malaysian authorities and attempt the impossible. The reason? Simply because many would say, faith is a matter of the heart. It is between God and you. It will not in anyway affect your path to the Kingdom of God even if the word 'Islam' appears on your identity card. So, what's the big deal?
The big deal is, this lady is not ashame of her faith. She is not afraid to proclaim she is now one of Christ's. Well, many might argue why must one proclaim? Isn't it enough to earn you a place in Heaven by merely believing? Yes, justification is by faith alone but, what faith are you talking about when you do not even have the guts to stand up for the one you proclaim God? Believe me, there are indeed plenty of hypocrites to go around.
Well, mockery has always been the essence of Christ. Lina Joy has had her share these past few years. To continue her journey amidst death threats, mockery, criticism and all, I say she had her victory.

i agreee with you..
For me it takes * courage* to stand infront of the whole nation and to renounce her faith*
And looking at the papers today.. outside of the court.. surrounded BY M*.. for me it is just scary...
Not many christians are willing to do so for thier faith
One small step at a time... towards Freedom of Religion.
uhh..i dunno her, was she a muslim before?
that's a good way of putting it... still a victory in a different way.
I just wonder..will this spur other converts on..or leave them without hope?
whojen - Thanks for dropping by. That is why people say 'Everybody wants to go to Heaven but nobody wants to die.'
lb - To be honest, I believe persecution breeds true believers.
wuching - hahaha it's all over the news. Just go any blog... lol
may - I guess so. :-)
mott - In a way, I personally find that any faith under persecution can only breed true believers. It does not matter how many attend the church every Sunday. The real question is, are we recruiting numbers or are we making disciples? :-)
Does this mean if officially I am of muslim faith, but I renounce it and embrace christianity, I can still practise my chosen religion? Is anyone going to force me to practise my official religion? Will I be hauled into the syariah court for not practising the official religion?
Basically its all about faith not enforcement by man-made law. Funny how ppl can get it mixed up. If your heart is not in it, it doesn't matter how much enforcement it will come to pass :x I feel that our gamen is trying to grab their own a$$ in the dark, failing to do so and wasting time.... if you know wat i mean :) Cheers!
